George Clooney Dumps WWF Girlfriend Stacy Keibler

George Clooney Dumps WWF Girlfriend Stacy Keibler
George Clooney & Stacy Keibler

Despite the non-engagement ring George Clooney gave his girlfriend Stacy Keibler last month, it seems that their love couldn’t last! George, who is pushing 52, and Stacy, who is only 32, have had an imperfect relationship from the start. Despite their long-term time together, George never invited her to any of his public events! Stacy’s friend reported, “She said George wants to be on his own again and has no intention of getting married.”

Obviously! America’s most famous bachelor can’t ever tie the knot. It would kill his film career if women knew that the meat is off the market! However, all the signs were in place for a long-term commitment.

Exhibit A: The ring. A few weeks ago, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported that George presented Stacy with a gold ring. Her friends reported that she was thrilled. It was supposed to be evidence that George had some feelings for her that were located outside of his trousers.

Exhibit B: The parents. Last month, George flew out both of their parents to Cernobbio, Italy. The group stayed at George’s villa, toured together, and even got ice cream together. Having the families mingle on an extended Italian vacation almost screams secret elopement. We were happy to interpret it as a step towards marriage.

No word yet on who George will date next, but I’m guessing it will be someone young enough to be his daughter, with enough job freedom to be at his beck and call (except when he has acting/political business. Then she’ll be cruelly shunned like all the others before her!). No word yet from either rep, but what can Team George say? He’s still womanizing and has no plans to stop?

Gunmen kill Mopol commander in Kano

Gunmen last night shot dead a commander of Mobile Police Squadron 9 located in Hotoro area of Kano metropolis.

SP Dahiru Musa Majia was trailed to his private residence at Layin Transformer in Sabuwar Gandu by assailants driving a car and killed shortly after 7pm.

Yesterday’s killing was the first on a serving senior police officer in the state, but no group has yet claimed responsibility for it.

Witnesses said the commander was trailed to his house by the assailants shortly after Magrib prayers.

The officer, who lost his wife about two months ago, was said to have married another wife only a week ago.

A female resident of the area who would not want her name mentioned, said the attackers continued to shoot in the area after killing the cop.

She told Daily Trust that gunshots rent the area for over 30 minutes after the attack.

“There were policemen guarding the house, but they were withdrawn later,” she said.

Residents said the victim died on the spot, as he was fatally injured.

The deceased was a DPO of Gwagwarwa Police Division in Kano metropolis, before he was posted to Kaduna State.

He was however transferred back to Kano to head the Mopol 9 Squadron in Hotoro.

The state police command confirmed the killing.

New Nigerian Newspaper Journalist Dies, Owed One Year’s Wages, Leaving Behind Five Orphans

Ibrahim Musa

Ibrahim Musa, a senior journalist with the New Nigerian newspaper in Kaduna, has died, unable to look after himself following the failure of his employers to meet the company’s salary obligations for close to two years.

The New Nigerian is owned by the Northern States.  It was established in 1966 by then Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, to serve as the mouthpiece of the North.   It has experienced difficulties in times, and the staff is currently on an indefinite strike over the mounting backlog of salaries and emoluments.

In February 2012, the workers of New Nigerian Newspapers were protesting the company’s administrative difficulties, including unpaid salaries which at that time stood at 10 months.  They blamed the Northern Governors Forum, which collectively has responsibility for the company, for the stalemate at the once very powerful newspaper.  Also left unpaid were the company’s pensioners.

A journalist  in Kaduna said that several journalists at the newspaper, some of them in very poor health, have resorted to begging as a means of survival.
Prior to Musa’s death at the weekend, his wife had previously died in his hometown, Ankpa, in Kogi State.

A member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and friend of Musa’s testified in Lokoja that Musa died in terrible circumstances that were compounded by the death of his wife and his inability to pay his bills.

He said of Musa, “He has left behind five children, and they are orphans because the wife just passed on too. You can see the dilemma of Nigerian media. The children will not get anything from the company; if their father could not, who are the poor children to get justice from Northern Governors?”
It is learnt that Musa worked with the New Nigerian at their headquarters in Kaduna for almost 20 years.

For some reason, the governors, some of whom are among Nigeria’s most irresponsible public spenders, have failed to take the situation at the New Nigerian seriously.  Last year, at the request of President Goodluck Jonathan, some of them contributed a bizarre N500 million Naira each to the ‘launching’ of a biography of the Peoples Democratic Party chairman, Bamanga Tukur.

British cardinal accused of 'inappropriate' acts with priests

The pope was on Sunday personally investigating claims that Britain's most senior Roman Catholic was involved in "inappropriate" acts with priests.
Cardinal Keith O'Brien, the leader of the Church in Scotland, was under mounting pressure to stand aside from taking part in the vote next month to elect Benedict XVI's successor.
Yesterday senior Church leaders acknowledged doubts over his participation in the forthcoming Conclave in Rome but insisted the decision was in his hands.
The claims overshadowed the Pope's last Sunday appearance in Rome before he becomes the first pontiff in 600 years to step down later this week.
Vatican officials have been attempting to dampen speculation that the Pope's resignation could be linked to a secret dossier of information on the Vatileaks scandal which was handed to him recently.
Over the weekend the Vatican's secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, issued an angry denunciation of "unverified, unverifiable, or even completely false" claims threatening to undermine the papal election.
But even as he spoke The Observer newspaper published allegations from four men - three priests and one former priest - of "inappropriate" behaviour by the cardinal dating back as far as 1980.
One of the men, who has since left the priesthood, claims he was a young seminarian in Scotland when the future cardinal made "inappropriate" contact after evening prayers.
One priest alleges that he received unwanted attention from the cardinal after a late-night drinking session and another claims that he was receiving counselling when the cardinal allegedly used night prayers as a cover.
The former priest was quoted as saying he had left the priesthood "to preserve my integrity" knowing that the cardinal's position gave him "immense power".
Cardinal O'Brien, who turns 75 next month, pulled out of leading a mass to honour Pope Benedict in Edinburgh yesterday and remained at his home in the city.
The Rt Rev Stephen Robson, the auxiliary bishop in the diocese, visited Cardinal O'Brien yesterday and left saying: "He is very upset, he is bound to be."
But when asked whether the cardinal would still be going to Rome, where he is expected on Tuesday, he said only that a statement would be released soon.
Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, the former Archbishop of Westminster, said he was saddened by the claims. But he insisted: "The allegations have not been proved in any way, so he will have to decide whether he wants to go."
Last night it emerged that the Pope was examining the allegations, which were passed to him by the Vatican's Nuncio in the UK, Archbishop Antonio Mennini.
Father Federico Lombardi, the Vatican spokesperson, said, "The Pope has been informed, and the question is in his hands."

FBI's Most Wanted Nigerian Fraudster, Tobechi Onwuhara Arrested

He owned a hip hop record label and he lived the high life of luxury hotels, gambling, strippers and bling. But behind the glitz and the glamour Tobechi Enyinna Onwuhara was one of the FBI’s most wanted men, allegedly a fraudster who scammed at least $44 million through cyber crimes.
But the sophisticated con artist, who fled Florida in August 2008 amid an intense FBI investigation, has been caught in Sydney and sent back to the US to face a string of fraud charges.

Nigerian-born Tobechi Onwuhara, 33, was “provisionally arrested in response to a request from the United States Government” in December last year, according to a spokeswoman for the Australian Attorney-General’s department.
A spokeswoman for the AG’s department said Mr Onwuhara is to face prosecution in the US for fraud related offences, including identity fraud and computer fraud.
“On January 29, the Minister for Justice [Jason Clare] made a determination to surrender Mr Onwuhara to the US.
“As a matter of long standing practice, the Australian government does not comment on operational matters,” she said.
Fairfax Media understands Mr Onwuhara had been living it up in Sydney after disappearing in August 2008.
The FBI’s website now lists Mr Onwuhara as captured, but with scant detail of the arrest. They were offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
The source who tipped off Fairfax said Mr Onwuhara had been making regular trips to The Star casino as well as splashing cash at numerous popular nightclubs.
“He would bet at the Star under a different name, he was a regular, then one day he just disappeared and someone told us he his wanted by the FBI,” a source said.
A spokeswoman for Echo entertainment, owner of The Star, did not return calls and emails. The US Consulate in Sydney also did not return calls.
An Australian Federal Police spokesman confirmed the AFP arrested Mr Onwuhara.
According to the FBI’s most wanted list. Mr Onwuhara is wanted for his alleged involvement in an elaborate scheme that defrauded the financial industry out of tens of millions of dollars.
“Onwuhara is a key member of a group of Nigerians who allegedly have been conducting fraudulent banking activities from Florida and Texas, since 2005,” the FBI’s most wanted website states.
“It is alleged that the group has been using online internet databases to steal victims’ identities.
“Once acquired, they allegedly use the victims’ information to gain access to the victims’ ‘Home Equity Line of Credit’ accounts and wire transfer the money to accounts mainly located overseas, some in the United States.”
Some of Onwuhara’s alleged co-conspirators have been arrested, inside and outside of the United States, the FBI’s website states.
Onwuhara was charged federally with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest by the US District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, on August 1, 2008.

Recruitment Scandal: About 700 Police Officers Dismissed – IGP - Mr Mohammed Abubakar

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, has said that no fewer than 700 police officers were dismissed  from the force due to recruitment scandals in 2012.Abubakar made this known when he answered questions from newsmen after a town hall meeting in Yola.“Last year, about 700 police officers were dismissed from the service following their involvement in recruitment irregularities and other related offences.”The IGP said the force had zero tolerance for corruption, hence any officer found wanting was dealt with.He said that a special unit was created to restore dignity and instill discipline among the officers.“In order to help the force to fish out bad eggs, this is my telephone number – 08109009000,” Abubakar said.He said he was ready to answer any call or receive text message at any time for complaint, advice or support. He further warned against the misuse of the number by feeding the force with false information.

Going The Extra Mile Against Illegal Recruitment Syndicate

Suspected cyber space syndicate who had been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public using the name of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has finally had their cup full after the Service went the extra mile to bring their activities to an end in the interest of unsuspecting job seekers.
Job scam has been on the increase following the rising unemployment rate in the country, thereby creating an opportunity where people, out of desperation to earn a living, easily fall for the tricks of illegal recruitment agencies.  The unusual effort made by the NCS to crack down on these suspected illegal job syndicate is commendable and one worthy of emulation by other agencies whose names are easily used to defraud innocent job seekers.
The suspected fraudsters were nabbed and paraded last week after a painstaking investigation by operatives of the NCS with support from forensic experts in the US and Canada as well as the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC).
The activities of the suspected fraudsters began after the conclusion of recruitment exercise conducted by the Service between 2009 and 2012. Long after the conclusion of these exercises, the Service continued receiving numerous complaints from applicants who claimed that they were lured into paying various sums of monies into bank accounts in the name of Nigeria Customs Service after applying online on a supposed Customs website.
Parading the suspects at the Customs Headquarters, Abuja last week, the Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Headquarters, Musa Tahir, explained that the testimonies gotten from various victims of the scam informed the need to take investigation of the case beyond conventional method associated with common crimes.
He said the use of fake websites, creation of fake Facebook accounts and high level collusion of commercial banks necessitated the use of cutting edge technology to catch up with the evil perpetrators. “The Service therefore deployed our forensic experts to launch investigations in collaborations with experts in Canada and United States to crack the syndicate,” he said.
Some of the fake domain names used by the scammers to conduct the fake recruitments are “Nigeriacustomsservice.net,” and “nigeriacustomsservice.info.” They were also said to have allegedly opened various fake facebook accounts in the name of the Comptroller-General of Customs to further deceive unsuspecting job seekers. In connivance with bank officials, they went further to open a bank account with the name “Customs Wuse,” where payments were made into by the job seekers.
Tahir while commending the good investigative work done by the Services’ forensic experts in collaboration with experts in Canada and the United States, also acknowledged the high level support given the Service by the Chairman of ICPC, Ekpo Nta, who seconded his operatives to participate in the over three months-period investigation.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the website and facebook accounts were masterminded by one Umoh Moses also known as Prince Moses and Prince Umoh, who was arrested alongside three other suspects whose names were given as Obinwanne Donatus, Abua Steve and Duru Chidi.
The suspects were found to be operating a company known as BIIS located at no. 11, Tetlow Road, Owerri, Imo State, while the fake site were hosted by an Ibadan-based company known as Skyskay System Limited, with one Kayode Abiodun Ogundele as the alleged mastermind.
According to Musa, forensic experts operating from the US and Canada also found the involvement of a commercial bank where an account was opened using the name “Customs Wuse,” domiciled in Aba, Abia State, which was used to defraud the job seekers.
He said a manager of the bank with four other staff were arrested for high-level collusion and failure to discharge their obligations of ‘Know Your Customer (KYC)’. Five laptops, five mobile phone sets and central processing unit were retrieved from the suspects for further forensic analysis to determine the extent of their involvement in this crime.
It was gathered that operatives of the Service were sent to the web designer’s office in Owerri, on an undercover mission with pretence to learn how to design websites. This enabled the Service gather more information about the syndicate and the information confirmed what the forensic experts had already found. It was at this stage that Customs and ICPC operatives moved in and arrested all the suspected illegal recruitment syndicate who would now be made to face trial in the law court.
In a related case, two serving corps members, Sanusi Abubakar and Hassan Nura Maiyaki were also arrested in Abuja for involvement in ‘money-for-job’ scandal. They were lured into Abuja by Customs operatives to collect the sum of N400,000 for two Customs recruitment letters.
“Their victims, who were to have been defrauded in Sokoto, insisted that payment for the letters would only be made after sighting the original copies. A trap was set for them, when they came to Abuja to consummate the deal before their arrest,” Tahir said.
In yet another case, one Hassan Haruna duped three job applicants of a total sum of N3 million in the guise of helping them to secure employment into Customs. Hassan was arrested in Apapa, Lagos, when he walked into a trap set for him by Customs operatives.
“I want to acknowledge the high level of support we enjoined from the Chairman, ICPC, Barr. Ekpo Nta, who graciously seconded some of his operatives who participated in this investigation. I must commend their commitment to painstaking approach which has led the Service to these discoveries,” Tahir said.
He added that “for the benefit of all, we also like to alert Nigerians that these web scammers do not limit their activities to recruitment alone. They also use on-line platforms to extort money from victims in exchange for fake auction papers, contracts and other business deals.
“Another recent trend is dropping the names of principal aides of the Comptroller-General as baits for unsuspecting victims. Members of the public are to note that there is no service provided by the Customs that requires payment of un-receipted facilitating fees of any kind. Let me emphasise that the process of recruitment and contracts in Customs fulfil all requirements of fairness and transparency prescribed by the Federal Government of Nigeria,” he stated.

Rapper Ja Rule released from a State prison to another Federal prison

Rapper Ja Rule passed a big milestone in his legal struggles on Thursday morning when he was released from a prison in upstate New York, where he’s been incarcerated since June 2011 on a gun charge.

But there’s a twist: Along with the two-year sentence on the state gun charge, the 36 year old has been working though a 28-month federal sentence for tax evasion. The sentences were running concurrently, which leaves him with time still to serve in the federal case — so he’s out, but he’s not yet free.

Ja Rule, real name Jeffrey Atkins, went from the Mid-State Correctional Facility to the Oneida County Jail into central New York, where he was awaiting word from the Federal Bureau of Prisons about where he’ll serve time in the tax case. His lawyer said the rapper may have less than six months left to serve, and could be eligible to pass that time in a halfway house. He was let go at the earliest possible release date.

“There’s a lot of anticipation knowing that he’s so close to the end of it…and frustration,” attorney Stacey Richman told MTV News. “He knew he wasn’t getting out today, but his spirits have been extraordinary throughout. A lot of people want to work with him.”

In December 2010, Ja Rule pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon after police in 2007 found an unlicensed, loaded, semiautomatic weapon in his Maybach during a traffic stop. In March 2011, Rule pleaded guilty to three counts of failing to file a tax return, admitting that he’d failed to pay income tax on more than $3 million (Dh11 million) earned from 2004 through 2006, with prosecutors dropping charges related to earnings in 2007 and 2008. At the time, he agreed to pay $1.1 million in back taxes.

Spartak Moscow panic over Nigeria star - AFCON 2013 Highest Goal Scorer

Emmanuel Emenike’s hamstring injury has triggered panic at his Russian Premier League club Spartak Moscow.

The Super Eagles forward picked up the injury at the South Africa 2013  Africa Cup of Nations won by Nigeria, after their 1-0 defeat of Burkina Faso in the final on February 10. Emenike, who scored four goals to emerge as the top scorer of the championship, missed the final due to the injury.

The Russian season resumes next month after  a three-month winter break and  Spartak have confirmed that their Nigerian scoring machine will miss a number of matches.

The player will also miss Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying game against Kenya in Calabar in March.

A worried coach Valery Karpin told the club’s website during the week that he  would be forced  to use 21-year-old Ghanaian forward Majeed Waris, who joined  from Swedish side Hacken in November after he emerged as the highest goal scorer  in the Swedish league last season.

“Of course, if we don’t have Emenike and Movsisyan, then there are no other options,” Karpin was quoted as saying.

“Judging by preliminary information (diagnosis), I can say that Emenike will ninety-nine  per cent miss the first spring league matches. Maybe more.”

Meanwhile, Emenike has promised to reproduce  the form that made him win the  South Africa 2013 Golden Boot award  when he returns to action.

“I’m happy that I won the tournament in South Africa with  my national team. For me, this victory is very important, but you need to keep moving,”  the former  Fenerbahce star  said on the club’s  website.

“I really missed my teammates and I’m looking forward to the beginning of the final chunk of the Russian championship, where I hope to display form just as good as at the Africa Cup of Nations.”

Jealous brother hacks sibling to death

Policemen attached to Ilemba Hausa division have arrested a 30-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his brother, a Merchant Navy  to death while he was asleep.
The incident, occurred at the early hours of Wednesday morning    at Oritse Street in Imude community, under Oto-Awori local development council area of Lagos.
After allegedly committing the devilish deed, the suspect, Allen Biodun, 30,  reportedly dragged the remains of his brother, Allen Olawale Ayetimi,24,toan uncompleted building behind their compound and dumped it inside  the foundation of the building, covered it with leaves.Thereafter he quietly went to his room and  took his late brother’s ATM card, his Merchant navy uniform and phone.
Late Olawale and his brother Biodun
Late Olawale and his brother Biodun

Our reporters gathered that the deceased only returned from an official trip to Port Harcourt at about 11pm Tuesday. Although, the late Olawale was based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. But his mission to his family’s house as reliably gathered, was to settle a score between his elder brother and  mother.
Neighbours  who referred to Biodun as a terror in the area, alleged that he was  also responsible for the death of his father  two years ago. He was alleged to have poisoned his father’s food in order to take over  his three-bedroom bungalow as inheritance.
After his father’s death, Biodun reportedly chased his mother and siblings out of the main building, giving  them the two shops in front o f the house.
Noone, could  however tell whether there was any scuffle between Olawale and his elder brother on his arrival. But our reporters  gathered that there had been a lingering dispute between the duo. Sources attributed the dispute to petty jealousy which could be likened to that of  the biblical Cain and Abel story.
The  death of their father as gathered, saddled Olawale with the responsibility of catering for members of his family, since he was the only one who was working  among them. Unknown to him, his good will did not go down well with his elder brother, who on the other hand, reportedly resorted to buglary and bullying as a means of survival.
At other times, Biodun reportedly did  menial jobs. But the fear of Biodun in the environment was the beginning of wisdom.
“After the death of his father,  he took to burglary. Everybody is afraid of him in the street. The only thing people did was to close their doors or even enter their rooms whenever they see him coming. Even if you see him stealing your property, you have no option than to beg him to return them  because if you shout at him, he will beat you and nobody will come to your rescue”, a resident said, when our reporters visited.
Another possible reason attributed to the seeming ‘cold war’ between the duo as gathered,  followed Olawale’s refusal to sometimes meet with Biodun’s financial demand, an action the latter  took as intimidation and disrespect on his person.
Journey to death
On arrival from Port Harcourt that fateful day, Olawale reportedly washed his uniform, took his bath  and shared a brief moment with his mother and siblings in the shop they were confined to,during which he informed them that his mission home was to convince his brother to accept them back  into the main building, unaware that he would never live to see his mission accomplished. Before retiring to his bedroom which he shared with his elder brother, Olawale  was said to have instructed one of his sisters to boil water for him to bath the next morning.
But apprehension set in at about 7am Wednesday, after his sister went to inform him that the hot water was ready, only to discover his blood stained clothes on the floor, without any sight of him. As she was about to leave the room, she reportedly met Biodun, who informed her that Olawale had gone to the bank. Unsure of what to do, his sister, reportedly  alerted her mother who raised an alarm that created a scene in front of the building.
At that moment, a  neighbour identified as Mr  Sunday Abogunrin, disclosed to the gathering that  he saw  Biodun hours back,  dragging something  on the ground. Their greatest fear was confirmed when Biodun bolted  at the verge of being questioned about the whereabouts of his younger brother. No one, could at first run after him, apparently unsure of what he could be up to. It only took the efforts of a man among the crowd to catch him. After much persuation, Biodun reportedly took the crowd to where he laid the remains of his younger brother. On closer look, a deep cut,  was discovered in the late Olawale’s neck and forehead.
How I killed my brother
A mild drama reportedly unfolded as Biodun, according to eye witnesses,  started behaving like someone that was mentally ill, following   his  incoherent statement. But at a point, he reportedly confessed to have stabbed Olawale while he was sleeping.
The neighbour who claimed to have seen Biodun dragging the body of Olawale, told our reporters that:  “I came out  at about 1 am to ease myself at the backyard, when I noticed some movements. Out of curiosity, I peeped to see who it was, only to find Biodun dragging something on the floor. When I finished from the toilet, he was returning from where he went.  I noticed his hands were stained with blood  and when I asked where the blood came from, he said he just killed a goat. I never suspected anything, so, I went inside to sleep. It was when I heard shout from their compound in the morning that I had to  disclose what happened”
The residents who wondered why a man could go as far as taking his own brother’s life, were however not too surprised, as some of them claimed they saw it coming.
According to one Ochukwo:“It is unfortunate that Olawale died. Biodun has actually made do his threat because he had on several occasions boasted that he would be the one to  kill Olalwale someday. He had stabbed him before during a fight and since then, had told several persons that he would kill him someday”.
On why nobody cared to inform the police about Biodun’s threat , the residents said they  would not want  a situation whereby he would come after them at the end of the day.
Our reporters gathered that Biodun’s mother and siblings were currently not only devastated by the tragic incident but were also afraid Biodun could carry out a more dastardly act if let off the hook.
He was however, handed over to the traditional ruler of the  community, who thereafter, invited the Police.

Oliha backs Keshi on Osaze, Martins

Martins and Osaze

Tunisia ’94  Africa Cup of Nations winner Thompson Oliha has backed Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi’s  decision to throw open the team’s door to the out-of-favour trio of Osaze  Odemwingie, Obafemi Martins and Taye Taiwo who he ignored in his selection for the South Africa 2013 edition  won by Nigeria.

Keshi, in Lagos last Saturday, said he had not slammed the door shut on the trio as well as the likes of Everton’s Victor Anichebe, on-loan Orduspor’s Yussuf   Ayila and Lokomotiv Moscow’s  Obinna Nsofor.

He said, “Unless they don’t want to play for Nigeria any more, otherwise they have a place in the team. I have a list of 50 players that we are working with. On the list are Osaze, Martins,  Anichebe and many others. At every stage we need them they will join us. We will use every good player to make the team better unless the player does not want to play for Nigeria. The door is still very wide open.”

Oliha, who was Keshi’s teammate for many years helping Nigeria win bronze at Senegal ’92, gold at Tunisia ’94 and an inspiring performance at the USA ’94 World Cup, said the experience of the  players would  prove vital in picking a ticket to the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

“Keshi must have his reason for dropping them but I believe they are still relevant to the team,” the Algiers ’90 Africa Cup of Nations silver medallist said.

“I disagree that the players are old or are spent forces. We need them for the World Cup qualifiers and the tournament proper.

“Keshi should not listen to what some people are saying about the players because they are still very good. He should invite them if they have decided to change and obey camp rules.

“But their inclusion in the team should not be automatic. They must show hunger and determination to win. They must respect the national jersey.”

He urged the Eagles manager to turn his back on any undisciplined player, saying only those ready to abide by the rules deserve to wear the national colours.

The former Africa Sport and Antalyaspor midfield dynamo praised the Eagles for winning the South Africa 2013 trophy.

Oliha, whose playing career was shortened by  a knee injury, pleaded for Keshi to be given time to build a stronger team for the country.

The ex-iwuanyanwu Nationale star said, “We shouldn’t put him under pressure. Alex Ferguson  is winning trophies for Manchester United because he has been there for a long time and I believe   Keshi  deserves the same opportunity.”

He commended the Federal Government for rewarding the team after winning the continental title, saying it would encourage them to give their best in subsequent tournaments.

However, the former Bendel Insurance ace, who won the African Cup Winners with Africa Sport in 1992, appealed to the government to develop the domestic league to prevent players from exporting their talents to lowly leagues in Asia and Eastern Europe.

WHO REALLY INVENTED THE INTERNET

As we luxuriate in the capabilities and spin-off technologies of the Internet, it is important to look back and appreciate the origin of this life-changing innovation. Although the invention is fairly recent, it is somewhat puzzling that its origin is actually a matter of controversy. Even the US former Vice-President Al Gore claimed to have “taken the initiative to create the Internet.” Although Mr. Gore may have played some roles in fostering the creation of the Internet through the US federal government legislation, he was not personally responsible for creating the Internet.
In a highly controversial op-ed last year for The Wall Street Journal, L. Gordon Crovitz attributed the creation of the Internet to Xerox, the Copying Machine people. He suggested that the US government envisioned a World Wide Web as early as the 1940s and went on to develop the Pentagon’s Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET). He however stated that ARPANET did not lead to the Internet that we have today.
Those in the know have no doubts as to the origin of the Internet. It is the US government. An article by Colin Wood in the 27 July 2012 issue of Government Technology magazine sheds some light on this issue. Preston Gralla, a tech expert and prolific writer, has no doubts. Neither does communications expert Annabel D. Dodd. Based on a Scientific American rebuttal (of Crovitz’s article) written by Michael Moyer, Wood wrote that “the government did invent the Internet and Crovitz doesn’t really understand what he’s talking about.” “Crovitz is confused about technology,” Moyer replied. “Just because Xerox invented Ethernet, doesn’t mean it also invented “the” Internet – it didn’t. Connecting several computers together isn’t the same thing as a worldwide computer network.”
“The most important part of what we now know of as the Internet is the TCP/IP protocol, which was invented by Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn,” Moyer wrote. Cerf and Kahn developed TCP/IP while working on a government grant. (TCP/IP stands for the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP) suite. A protocol refers to a set of communication rules.)
Several other people have criticized Crovitz for his misunderstandings, including the author of “Dealers of Lightning,” a history of Xerox PARC that Crovitz used as his main source of material. “While I’m gratified in a sense that he cites my book,” Michael Hiltzik was quoted to have written, “it’s my duty to point out that he’s wrong. My book bolsters, not contradicts, the argument that the Internet had its roots in the ARPANET, a government project.” Robert Metcalfe, a researcher at Xerox PARC who developed the logic for the Ethernet protocol also criticized Crovitz’s assertion that Metcalfe and his colleagues at Xerox created the Internet.
“The Internet did start with the ARPANET project and the federal government directly funded the creation of the Internet we know today,” Cerf has written. “And Xerox deserves credit for great work, including creation of the Ethernet protocol, the ALTO personal computer, the Xerox Network System and PARC Universal Packet.”
“Ultimately, it was the work of researchers around the world from dozens of organizations that created the Internet. After our initial paper was published, detailed design was conducted at Stanford during 1974 and implementation started in 1975 at Stanford, BBN and University College London. After that, a number of other institutions, notably MIT, SRI, ISI, UCLA, NDRE, engaged heavily in the work,” Cerf further pointed out.

The goal of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) component of the US Department of Defense (DoD) in starting the Internet in 1969 was to develop a network secure enough to withstand a nuclear attack. They based the Internet on packet switching, where packets share the same circuit. If one computer crashed in any situation, the data could be rerouted to other computers in the packet network.
In 1984, as more sites were added to ARPANET, the term “Internet” was coined and in 1987, the oversight of the Internet was transferred from the DoD to the US National Science Foundation, and subsequently to commercial organizations in 1995.
Also of interest is the World Wide Web, which was developed in 1991 (some say 1989) by Tim Berners-Lee at the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) in Geneva, Switzerland. Before this invention, the Internet, with its command-line interface, was difficult to use. The graphics user interface (GUI) that came with the World Wide Web made using the Internet very user-friendly. It also provided links to other web sites, the links in the form of highlighted text and graphics. In addition, the World Wide Web provides Web addresses as text rather than numbers in the form of uniform resource locators (URLs).
The first browser, Mosaic, was created in 1993 by the US National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois and at CERN. It was developed as a point-and-click way to access the World Wide Web. This opened up the Internet to users without computer skill. The name of the protocol used to link sites is the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP). When a browser sees “http,” it knows that this is an address for linking to another site.
Of course, when it comes right down to it, the government by itself doesn’t really invent anything. It is smart people that do the inventing and the government just dishes out tax money to bring their ideas to fruition. However, the US government deserves some credit for constantly coming up with cutting-edge project ideas and providing the funds to do the research.
To recap, Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn, working on the US government project ARPANET, are credited with the original invention of the Internet.

UNILAG: Jonathan Has Reversed Change Of Name - Gana

The Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof Jerry Gana has disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan has reversed the change of name of the University of Lagos which he renamed Moshood Abiola University in a broadcast to mark the 2012 Democracy Day.

Gana stated this yesterday in Abuja during his inauguration alongside three others by the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai

The name change had led to legal action and protests from students and alumni of the institution while a court recently ruled that the change was illegal.

Gana, who hailed Jonathan for retaining the name of the institution, added that the president had upheld the 1999 Constitution by reversing the change of name of the university.

He said, "This is a pointer to the fact that the current administration is committed to entrenching democracy and justice in the country.’’

Gana, who was responding on behalf of the four councils, said they would ensure that the universities’ communities settled down in peace.

According to Gana, "I assure you that we will do our best to be fair, just and honourable in the discharge of our duties and promised effective leadership with integrity, honour and justice."

Gana also stated that members of the governing councils would work according to the rules governing the institutions.

He further thanked Jonathan for the appointments and said they would put in their best as Nigerians deserved nothing less.

The other governing councils inaugurated by Rufa’i were for the University of Benin, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and Michael Opara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

Their Chairmen are Sen. Bob Dickson, Prof. Rowland Ndoma-Egba and Prof. Anya O.Anya respectively.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, Sen. Uche Chukwumerijie said the lawmakers’ job had been made easier by the appointments.

Chukwumerijie said the committee’s oversight visits to the institutions had identified lack of leadership by the absence of governing councils and the quality of members of the boards as challenges facing the institutions.

He said, “There are councils for those that did not have and the members who have been appointed are men and women of proven integrity and experience in academics.’’

Chukwumerijie also urged the councils to immediately tackle falling standards of education, corruption, cultism and many ills that had continued to affect the development of education.

Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie, said no university could function effectively without a governing council.

ABU students threaten court action over fees hike

Postgraduate students of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria yesterday threatened to take the university to court if the management goes ahead to implement fees hike.

Speaking on behalf of the Postgraduate Students’ Representatives Council, Ja’afar Sani Bello, said the council has made efforts to make the university management revert to the old fees.

“I am an M.Sc II student in the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture of the university. Our problem is the recent hike in the tuition fees by the management of ABU. Last year, for example, I paid N53,000, but coming back this year, we realised that there is increase of between 200 to 400 per cent. For instance in our department, students are now expected to pay N110,000 or N113,000, instead of the N53,000 paid last year. This excludes what students would be paying for research work, accommodation and other necessities. We have contacted the university management but they were adamant. The hike is harsh considering the economic environment of Nigeria. If we exhaust all avenues, we would be left with no alternative than to go to court to seek an injunction to restrict the university from implementing the hike. We want to appeal to the Federal Government to realise that postgraduate studies play a vital role in growth and transformation of countries,” Bello said.

He urged ABU to take a cue from neighbouring universities of Bayero University and Dan Fodio University that charge less than N60,000 for academic masters.

Reacting, the Vice Chancellor of ABU, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha and DVC (Admin), Professor Na’iya Sada, said the students would have nothing to gain by going to court. Professor Sada said postgraduate programmes in ABU are cheaper compared to other universities.

Why Al-Mustapha Deserves Pardon

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha

The long-running trial of Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the Chief Security Officer to late military ruler, General Sani Abacha, is probably one of the most pathetic cases of slow process of justice. Although his appeal against the death sentence on him is due to be heard on April 29, 2013, it is never too late to once again call on President Jonathan and the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tunde Fashola to intervene politically and grant him pardon.

Prejudice or hostility against suspects or convicts should not deter governments from intervening in legal matters to provide a political solution. In the case of Al-Mustapha, there are even worries whether the inconsistencies and discrepancies in witnesses accounts could have justified the death sentence imposed on him on January 30 2012.
Pardon or amnesty is not a new thing in many countries. The famous British jurist and statesman, Mr. Francis Bacon, described revenge as a form of wild justice, which the law should seek to weed out. If Nigerians could support state pardon for persons involved in deliberate mass murder in the spirit of reconciliation and unity of the country, it is doubtful if the same Nigerian would reject pardon for others, including Al-Mustapha.
In fact, the amnesty policy should be broad enough to cover all Nigerians; the policy should not discriminate against any Nigerian. It is also not true that only northerners are keen about the freedom of Al-Mustapha. The sentiments of mercy respect no ethnic or regional boundaries. The former Niger Delta militant leader, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, and the factional leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Dr. Frederick Fasheun, have repeatedly added their voices to the appeal for amnesty to Al-Mustapha.
There is the theory that no judge would dare set Al-Mustapha free in the hostile political and social environment of the SouthWest. I however think that prejudice should not be allowed to interfere with justice. If judges let themselves to be influenced by public sentiments rather than the strength of evidence before them, then the whole concept of criminal justice would have lost its purpose. And that is the more reason I believe this theory is far-fetched.
Dr. Frederick Fasheun is a prominent Yoruba figure and so is Chief Femi Fani-Kayode. Both of them have made passionate and repeated appeals for state pardon to be granted to Al-Mustapha. The Scottish government ignored American and British public sentiments and granted pardon to the late Libyan convict in the 1989 Lockerbie terrorist bombing of Pan Am air lines, Mr. Basset Al-Magrahi.
He was pardoned on health grounds and, despite the hostility of the Americans to the pardon, the Scottish government went ahead with the decision because it was convinced the action was right.
Would state pardon for Al-Mustapha mean the end of the world for Nigeria? If state pardon for mass murderers that publicly confessed their crimes didn’t destroy Nigeria, how would granting pardon for Al-Mustapha hurt Nigeria? This young army major has spent more than 15 years languishing in detention.
We have yet to hear superior arguments why Al-Mustapha should not deserve state pardon like other Nigerians granted clemency. Is his alleged crime the worst ever committed in Nigeria? Hasn’t he suffered enough, having already spent 15 years behind bars? In fact, his mother even died because of high blood pressure caused by the distress of her son’s tribulations.
When Nelson Mandela was released from prison and became the President of South Africa, many revenge-hungry blacks were expecting him to throw his white enemies into jail or hang them. However, the sage never did so because he knew societies should not be built on revenge. Instead, Mandela established the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, headed by Dr. Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Nobel Laureate.
President Jonathan and Governor Fashola should act like statesmen in this matter. Statesmen rise above the sentiments of the crowd. They should put higher consideration on the issue of unity and reconciliation above anything else. Northern political leaders and other opinion leaders should also reach out to the SouthWest to find ways to end Al-Mustapha’s travails once and for all.
The seeming indifference of northern leaders to his plight is compounding his suffering. In fact, unless northern leaders demonstrate more active interest in this matter by reaching out to the SouthWest, President Jonathan may not find the encouragement to grant him state pardon.
Major Al-Mustapha should not be abandoned to his fate by northern leaders. Political initiatives and pressures ultimately led to the negotiations for the freedom of former militants and OPC leaders. There are legal issues that can be resolved politically. In 1995, the late General Sani Abacha had offered the initiative to release the late Chief Moshood Abiola from detention as part of a political solution.
Unfortunately, the then NADECO leaders rejected the offer and Abiola died an avoidable death. Statesmanship entails courage to take difficult decisions, even if some people may not like them. It is better to err on the side of mercy than to be right on the side of vengeance

Sony announces Play station 4 for Holiday 2013

Controller-PS4
The new control pad for PS 4

Knack-PS4

Knack: A nifty oddity which looks like a kid-friendly 3-D cartoon, Knack lets you control a tiny robot who can morph into a huge robot composed of apparently hundreds of distinct parts. Think Pikmin meets TransformersExcitement Level: 8

When it came time to announce their next-generation Playstation console, Sony did not hesitate. The introduction of the Playstation 4 occurred at a media-packed event in New York, which featured appearances by some of the greatest, most popular, and most self-important videogame creators in the world. They showed off a slate of games that ran the gamut from “exciting” and “visually stimulating” to “confusing” and “wait, so Killzone is still happening?”

The presentation was, in some ways, a bold refutation of Nintendo’s Wii U — Sony made a point of stressing that it had involved third-party developers in the process of crafting the Playstation 4. But this gaming generation wasn’t kind to Sony. The Playstation 2 was a culture-impacting, boundary-bursting force of nature; the Playstation 3 was a high-powered machine with great games that had a hard time competing with the muscular Xbox 360 and the mass-appeal Wii. So, there came the inevitable moment in the Playstation 4 presentation when Sony made it clear that a key part of the PS4 pitch was its compatibility with the PS Vita, Sony’s low-selling mobile-games device. The intention is to allow you to play all PS4 games on your Vita — if you have a Vita, which you probably don’t — a compatibility system which basically makes the Vita into the Sony equivalent of the Wii U’s GamePad.
But comparisons between the PS4 and the Wii U arguably stop there. Although the first hour of Sony’s presentation was weirdly devoted to non-games product-y yammering — “Hey, look, you can post video of yourself playing a game online, just like PC gamers have done for over a decade!” — the tech giant wisely ceded the stage to some of the medium’s most intriguing creators, who paraded quick peeks at their games.

Woman Jailed 6 Years For Burying Her 2-yr-old Baby Alive

An 18-year-old mother of one, Adeola Joseph, was yesterday sentenced to  six years imprisonment with hard labour for burying her child alive.
Magistrate Olusola Aluko, of Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, ordered the mother of one to serve the jail term with hard labour, saying she did not deserve to be in the midst of human being as she  looked unrepentant of her action.
“The convict is callous and may not change from her devilish act,” the magistrate said.
Joseph was said to have buried her only child, Fatiat Nafiu, at her residence located at Ijetu area of the state capital alive, but the was rescued by a good samaritan.
According to the police prosecutor, Mr. Solomon Oladele, the convict buried her child in the early hours of Monday, Feb. 18, 2012, but it was rescued by one Prophetess Tunrayo Akinwande who lived around the area.
Oladele said the intervention of Prophetess Akinwande and other residents of the area, who exhumed Fatiat from the grave and took her to the hospital, saved  the two-year old innocent baby from death.
The court had slammed a three-count charge attempted murder, felony and breach of peace to which she pleaded guilty and  asked the court to temper justice with mercy.
She claimed that her parent were not favourably disposed to her marriage with the child’s father and that she had been catering for the baby alone without any asistance.
She also told the court that she decided to kill the baby as she wanted to relocate to Lagos in search of a job and could not bear the responsibilities of the baby in addition to hers in Lagos.

Bomb Targeted At JTF Kills 3 In Maiduguri

Three people, including a bomber, were killed while another two were seriously injured when an improvised explosive device targeted at the Joint Task Force (JTF) patrol team exploded at post office round about in Maiduguri metropolis yesterday.
A statement made available to LEADERSHIP and signed by the JTF spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, informed that a JTF vehicle was damaged in the attack.
The statement also urged the public to disregard some leaflets allegedly printed and circulated by Boko Haram terrorists containing message from leader of Jama’atu  Ahlus Sunnah Lidda’ Awati Wal Jihad Abubakar Shekau in which the group threatened on Nigerians.
“The attention of the Joint Task Force Operation Restore Order has been drawn to some leaflets allegedly printed and circulated by Boko Haram containing message from leader of Jama’atu  Ahlus Sunnah Lidda’ Awati Wal Jihad Abubakar Shekau threatening and warning government, civil servants, politicians, traditional rulers and security agencies that the sect has not made any reconciliation with the government and that it has not declared cease fire,” the statement said.
Reiterating its determination to maintaining law and order, the JTF urged law abiding members of the public to totally disregard such publication and consider it as part of the terrorists’ propaganda strategy to keep the civil populace in captivity and perpetual fear with the view to unleashing more terror on innocent citizens.

N50 Million Fraud: Delta Tourism Board GM In EFCC Net, Commissioner, RMD Reportedly On The Run

Philo Nkem Ajufo, the acting General Manager of Delta State Tourism Board, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja over her role in a financial scheme. Ms. Ajufo is reportedly being quizzed for conniving with her boss, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), to embezzle N50 million from the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Mr. Mofe Damijo, a well known Nollywood star, is the commissioner in charge of the ministry. Our EFCC said the commissioner was also being sought by the anti-corruption agency, but he has been elusive.
An EFCC source confirmed Ms. Ajufo’s arrest. “As we talk, the Delta State Tourism GM, one Mrs. Nkem Ajufo, is been held in our headquarters here in Abuja over her involvement in the N50 million fraud. Her boss, Mr. Richard Mofe Damijo, is not left out but as we speak he is still avoiding us,” said the source.
Two sources at the ministry told our reporter that the EFCC last week delivered a letter inviting Ms. Ajufo to appear at their headquarters. She was reportedly asked to bring along relevant documents concerning the N50 million that was meant for the purported 2007 Delta Expo event which never held.
The sources disclosed that Mr. Mofe Damijo went underground on learning about the current development.
One source told our reporter that the commissioner, who is reported to be building himself a massive underground edifice in Lagos, was trying to use political contacts in Delta and Abuja to scuttle the EFCC’s investigation and washed his hands off the scam.
SaharaReporters learnt that Mr. Mofe Damijo denied knowledge of the money during the budget defense exercise.
Several calls and sms texts sent to Mr. Damijo and Ms. Ajufo’s mobile lines were not answered. After a while, the commissioner switched off his mobile phone.
Late last year, Saharareporters had broken the news of the N50 million allegedly embezzled by the commissioner and the acting GM of the state’s tourism board.

Several sources in the commissioner’s office had confided that a former commissioner in the Ministry had applied for the N50 million to organize the “Delta State Expo 2007,” disclosing that the state could not release the funds then due to some financial challenges. However, when the funds were released into the Tourism account in May, 2012, Mr. Mofe Damijo allegedly said that the ministry could no longer carry out the event since it had elapsed by six years and Deltans would have forgotten about the event.
But our reporter obtained “Forms of Advance Warrant” on release of funds from the Ministry of Finance indicating that the N50 million was supposed to be spent on the original event for which it was approved. The warrant order, numbered 00000117, 00000114 and 00000115, was signed by one Ms. P.O. Evuojapha for the Commissioner of Finance.
SaharaReporters learnt that N35 million of the N50 million was supposed to have gone to the tourism board.
A reporter for SaharaReporters learned that Mr. Mofe Damijo issued a check to the tourism board in the name of its acting GM, Ms. Ajufo. She in turn reportedly deposited the sum into her First Bank private account with account number (3006131619) operated under her name, Nkem Philo Ajufo. Our sources said she and Mr. Mofe Damijo subsequently shared the money.

PREMATURE EJACULATION ... THESE TIPS CAN HELP YOU

Premature Ejaculation Can Be Extremely Damaging, Emotionally And Physically In Bed. But With A Little Practice And Patience, Anyone Can Overcome The Problems Of Going Limp Before The Show’S Over.

These few tips can go a long way to help prolong ejaculation and sexual libido:

Control your Breathing
Now this is another area where you have to look into. Most men try to force their breathing pattern while making love. Don’t do that. Breathe deeply and fill your lungs with air. Be comfortable and you’ll be surprised how much this helps.

Play with your Body Weight
When you feel like you’re about to climax, stop the motions, and just hold still. Don’t put your weight on your partner, but lift yourself just a little bit, so your focus is on controlling your body weight and not on your organ.

Double Erection
If you are relatively young, then you can probably achieve another erection in a while after premature ejaculation. And the second time around, you would find it a lot easier to control your climax. Or you could also have a small encounter with yourself or with your partner’s help, a couple of hours before actually having an intimate session. But if you’re an older man, this strategy might be too much of a pain, and this could even result in you losing your confidence.

Play with yourself Often
Like that has to be told! But anyways, the point here is not to enjoy the mano-a-mano with your little dude but to control your climax. Each time you think you are about to climax, withdraw and repeat the same.
Try to masturbate for as long as you can, constantly stopping yourself from climaxing. Try to push your limits to over an hour if you have the time. Enjoy yourself, and don’t focus on progress all the time. This would help you control your ejaculation by a large extent, in a few months.

Twosome Games
Lovemaking Positions
The man-on-top (missionary) position can be fun, but it’s harder for most men to control their ejaculatory timing, because they have to hold themselves up. Try making love with the woman on top. This position is more relaxing for men, and it often helps ejaculatory control.

Moan
Make some noise. Love moans help men (and women) relax, and they often help men last longer.

Indulge in Foreplay
Men know that women love leisurely, playful, whole-body, massage-oriented sensuality. But men hardly feel that is required however much they pretend like they share the same thought. But when a man rushes into making love, there is a lot of pressure on his manhood as all the energy is focused only on that region. If you could actually indulge in a whole body experience, the arousal would be all over and would help you last longer.
With these tips, you should be able to hold on a lot longer, and yet, have a great time in bed with your partner.

And remember, premature ejaculation is more of a worry in the bigger head than in the smaller head. Try to relax your mind when you’re in bed, and the rest of your body will relax too.

Extra-Judicial Killing By Op-MESSA Soldier: Court Awards N300 Million To Victim's Widow

A Federal High Court in Lagos has awarded N300 million to the widow of Friday Orjieh, an operator of a bureau de change business killed in 2009 by an Operation MESSA soldier. Operation MESSA is an armed crime-fighting unit established by the Nigerian army to help rid Lagos State of crime.

Mr. Orjieh was shot to death by one Private Aminu Audu, a soldier with the unit, after a female customer alleged that an operator with the money-changing bureau had cheated her in a transaction.
Ruling on the matter today, Justice Idris Muhammed Kutigi granted the plaintiff, Adiza Orjieh’s prayers to declare the act of the culprit soldier a gross violation of the victim’s fundamental right to life and dignity of the human person. The judge consequently awarded N300 million to the plaintiff as general and exemplary damages for the breach of the victim’s fundamental right to life.
The Lagos State Government and its attorney general, who were joined in the suit, filed a motion to “arrest the judgment.” In his ruling, Justice Idris Kutigi said that “justice could not be arrested.” However, he struck out the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Lagos State Government, and the Attorney-General of Lagos State from the list of joined defendants.
The judgment was awarded against the Nigerian Army, which had shielded the killer-soldier, the Chief of Army Staff, Elizabeth Olubunmi, the customer who used the soldier to kill the victim, and Private Aminu Audu, the soldier who carried out the arbitrary killing.
On November 27, 2009, Ms. Olubunmi visited the office of Mr. Orjieh with Private Audu, a soldier with the Op-MESSA squad. She complained that she was short-changed in a transaction to change currency but could not identify the operator she allegedly had the transaction with. Even so, she insisted that Mr. Orjieh, who was in the bureau office, pay what she claimed as the shortfall in the cash she had received initially. Private Aminu was determined to forcibly execute the customer’s wish.
When Mr. Orjieh explained that it was unreasonable for the woman to expect payment when she had failed to identify the operator who allegedly cheated her, the soldier became enraged, pulled a gun, and shot the victim. The gunshot shattered Mr. Orjieh’s skull and he died instantly.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Dele Igbinedion, expressed his delight at today’s judgment, describing it as a good precedence for the Nigerian judiciary.

PAUL PLAY DAIRO sues MTN and ULTIMA LTD 500 Million Naira For infringement on his intellectual property.

paulplay1

Paul play Dairo has gone to court for redress over the unlawful use of hit song “angel of my life” on project fame. Paul was faraway in the US last year when the song was used without proper licensing. Reliable source indicated that his intellectual property manager, Mr. Ayo Rotimi was not even aware of the situation. We gathered that calls were made to the two organisations and their responses were cold and uncooperative.
Paul Plays management contacted festus Keyamo chambers to serve both organisations the suit. It is very sad to notice that even international companies in the calibre of MTN who have benefited enormously in the Nigerian economy is found wanting in unlawful exploitation of intellectual property. This is inappropriate and should be addressed.

The battle lines are drawn?

How To Know You’re In The Right Relationship

If you’re unwilling to introduce the person you’re dating at appropriate junctures to the most important people in your life, that’s usually a bright, flapping red flag.

The Internet is filled with articles on how to decide when to end it, how to recognize when your relationship is toxic, codependent, one-sided, stagnant, asexual, manipulative. But we don’t talk all that often about what defines a happy relationship. Picture it: You’re dating someone new. You’re waiting to feel the toxic stagnant codependency. Where is it? Months go by. Still nothing. At some point a corner of your brain dares register the thought: Could this be one of those? Could I actually be happy?

To help you answer that question, you lucky thing, here’s a completely unscientific list of 31 ways to know you’re in the right relationship:
YOU DON’T…

1. Fear it.

If you’re afraid of commitment, best to work that out before you put yourself in a situation where it’s hoped you’ll eventually commit.

2. Hide anything more significant than a surprise party from each other.

That includes exes, cheating, debt, STDs, chronic illness, felonies, whether you want a marriage and/or children, genetic abnormalities (if you both want kids), a strong desire to live somewhere else, professional failures and successes, doubts about your sexual orientation, a strong preference for un-vanilla sex.

The truth will come out, and if you’re with someone you feel the need to conceal any of this from, he or she probably isn’t right.

3. Snoop.

If no one’s hiding anything, why are you looking? Going through your significant other’s email, phone, Facebook account, or journal strongly indicates that you don’t trust the person you’re with. You’re also violating his or her trust in you.

4. Hide the relationship from other people in your life.

If you’re unwilling to introduce the person you’re dating at appropriate junctures to the most important people in your life, that’s usually a bright, flapping red flag.

In general, if you have a good thing going, you can’t wait for him or her to meet your friends, siblings, parents, and you wouldn’t have any qualms about presenting this person to professional acquaintances, people you knew in college, family friends, even your ex.

5. Think you’re superior.

If you feel that your significant other is your inferior in any way you know matters to you in a mate — morally, intellectually, socially, financially or professionally — you’re never going to respect him or her as much as you hope to be respected.

The best relationships make you feel that you’ve convinced a person more exceptional than you to love you.

6. Resent the other person’s success.

Professional jealousy can be as poisonous to a relationship as constantly thinking he or she is flirting with your best friend. It also suggests that you’re spending a lot of time comparing yourself to a person you supposedly adore, rather than sitting back and marveling at how amazing he or she is. In a good relationship, you quit (or refuse to ever engage in) the one-upmanship.

7. Let any substance or behavior come before the relationship.

Any addict or over-user of a substance or behavior is cheating on you with his or her drug of choice. You deserve more.

8. Stew.

When something the other person does annoys you or turns you off, you don’t push it to the back of your mind and hope it will go away, because it won’t. You bring it up in the moment or sometime in the next 24 hours.

9. Damage property, animals, children or each other during an argument.

You think this goes without saying until you realize that human beings can rationalize staying with someone who leaves holes in their walls.

On the other hand, if you damage a vase or two in the heat of a different kind of passion, totally fine.

10. Challenge each other on personal issues in front of other people.

You know which conversations you shouldn’t be having at brunch with friends.

11. Depend on each other for things no one can or should supply.

If you’re looking to your significant other to resolve your emotional issues, make you more responsible/successful/adult, support you financially, improve your social standing, expand your group of friends, provide you with the family you never had, or make your parents finally accept you, it’s possible you shouldn’t be in a relationship at all, or at least not yet.

12. Begrudge each other time with your respective friends.

You can’t be everything to your significant other, and why would you want to be? Sounds exhausting. Friends enrich your life, will accompany you to do things that your significant other may not enjoy, and keep you from getting tired of the person you’re seeing.

Besides, if the relationship doesn’t work out, those friends going to be the ones coming over to your house, dragging you out of bed and helping you rejoin humanity. Be good to them.

13. Lose Yourself

This is easier said than done, especially when the relationship is going really well. As tempting as it is to never leave the house (maybe never leave the bed), you keep doing the work, exercise, volunteering, socializing, networking, and daughtering you were doing before. Remember, these things made you the person Your Person fell in love with. They’re part of you. Don’t give them up for anyone. You can’t afford it.

14. Have a secret plan B.

If you’re where you need to be, the following thoughts don’t cross your mind: “Maybe he’ll dump me,” or “If my ex moves back from Mongolia, everything could change.”

15. Have much drama.

You know the cliche: The person worth your tears won’t make you cry. Usually.

YOU DO…

16. Put it all on the line.

If you’re not risking having your heart broken, you’re not doing it right.

17. Respect the people he or she is closest to.
You don’t have to love them, but you should think they are honest and moral and have integrity. Want to know you’re with a good person? Look to the people he or she thinks are good people.

18. Inspire each other to be better.

A good relationship is galvanizing, not in the oh-my-god-I-met-this-amazing-person-I’d-better-hurry-up-and-fix-myself sense (thought there’s probably a little of that when you first start seeing anyone amazing) but in the way that knowing someone else believes in you makes you believe in yourself that much more. You want to prove yourself worthy of his or her confidence.

19. Humble yourselves.

You know you can’t hide your flaws for long, so you don’t try. You recognize that this person is going to have to take you as you are, as foolish or charitable (or both) as that may seem to make him or her. You know you’re both going to mess up endless times and have to apologize and be forgiven and forgive. You’ll wonder if one of the bigger mistakes is the one that will end it, and you’ll have to prove to one another that the relationship transcends that. You recognize that you signed up for all of this.

20. Talk about sex.

Most couples don’t instinctively know all of the ways to please each other. You have to talk about — or at least show — what you want. If you don’t know what you want, you need to figure that out, STAT. And after you have talked about it, you do it. Better.

21. Talk about the rest.

The same things you’re not supposed to talk about on a blind date — religion, money, politics, kids — are things you should discuss with someone you’re serious about. What? You just remembered that thing you need to do? Get back here. No one said this was going to be painless. They said it was going to be hard and awesome.

22. Fight.

If you agree on everything, someone’s not telling the truth. See #2 and #8.

23. Have times when you don’t talk.

Not because you’re angry with each other but because you can be quiet together. When you find yourself with silences you don’t need to fill, when you find you can just walk along or lie about or work side by side and feel together without needing to verbally affirm that, you’ve got a good thing going.

24. Have object permanence.

Child psychologist Jean Piaget theorized that when babies get to be 8 or 9 months old, they begin to develop “object permanence,” the idea that an object doesn’t vanish when they can no longer see it.

In a good adult relationship, you know that you can go out into the world and do your thing, and the bond you’ve formed with the person you care about will be there when you get back.

This is also known as trust.

25. Take care of your body.

You know that you won’t enjoy sharing it with someone else if you don’t like, respect, and nurture it. Your partner feels the same way.

26. Divide and conquer.

You’re not identical, thank god, which probably means you have certain strengths and he or she has others. Someone is more organized, someone is more outgoing, someone is a born listener. Someone is better with money, someone is more creative. Someone is more adventurous in bed.

If you each play to your strengths, you in all likelihood remember a gift (possibly an inspired one), your home(s) look(s) great, the bills get paid on time, sex is endlessly fun, and you leave everyone at the party thoroughly charmed.

27. Remember to look at each other across the room.

There’s nothing more reassuring (or sexier) than glancing up from the interminable conversation with your eighth cousin or the head of operations or the report you can’t seem to finish and locking eyes with Your Person and remembering that by some quantity of luck neither of you may deserve, you found each other.

28. Observe.

You notice when the other person is about to lose it, needs to leave even if you’ve been there only 20 minutes, is talking to someone he or she can’t stand, did something he or she feels guilty about, is silently berating himself or herself, is ruminating over the thing his or her boss said, is about to spend an insane amount of money, and best of all, about to crack up in a situation where he or she shouldn’t. You pay attention because you care, and because that’s the good stuff.

29. Make time.

You realize that if this is it, one of you is going to be around some distant day in the future to lose the other. In that moment, you will not regret not checking your email in this one.

30. Occasionally get over yourself and your cynicism and fear of cliche and do something deeply, unapologetically romantic.

You send the flowers, have the book signed by the author, request the song, write the note, have the damned thing (tastefully) engraved. You call the other person and tell him or her that specific thing he or she did this morning that made you fall that much more in love. When you’re not expecting it, he or she dares to say, even though we all know there are no guarantees ever, “When we’re X age, want to Y?”
